History:
Paul Graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape architecture from UBC in 1988. After that, he worked for Sharp and Diamond Landscape Architecture from 1988-1994. Following that he worked with the well known Robert DeGros, (Design & Build) from 1994-1998. In 1998, he started Dirks Landscape Design/Build Ltd (also known as Dirks Natural Playgrounds).
Since 1998, we have Designed and built some of the most unique Playgrounds in the lower mainland. With an emphasis on locally sourced, sustainable materials such as red and yellow cedar, boulders and native plant materials, we make playgrounds unlike any others. Everything we do Is built to meet the CSA safety and licensing requirements.
Some of our clients include SFU Childcare society, Malcolm Knapp/UBC Research Forest, UBC Child Care Services, YMCA, YWCA, Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House, Vancouver Society of Children's Centre, Society of Richmond Children's Centres, Developmental Disabilities Association, Collingwood Neighbourhood House and many others.
We have collaborated with many local Landscape Architects, designing various aspects of natural play environments.
Claude Morin - Supervisor/Head Builder
Claude is responsible for leading the execution and building of our playgrounds. From foundational construction to intricate chainsaw carvings, Claude is an expert. With a combination of an artistic mind, and years of experience in various trades prior to joining the Dirks team, Claude quickly became paramount in our team creating the amazing structures the Dirks team creates.
